CROSS PLAINS – Trustees were presented last week (MAY 12) with an update on the new Village Hall/Police Building that’s more expensive than initially planned and is falling behind its original construction timetable. 

Acting on a recommendation from Assistant City Administrator/Finance Director Bill Burns, the Middleton Common Council approved hiring Plante Moran to select an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system selection.

MADISON – A Middleton girl’s fight to play lacrosse this spring for Edgewood High School was permanently sidelined last week (MAY 6) by a Dane County judge who granted the Wisconsin Athletic Association’s motion to dismiss her lawsuit. 

The City of Middleton recognized six 2024 Sustainable Middleton award winners with plaques, gift cards and a proclamation during the May 6 Middleton Common Council meeting.

Three school superintendents and six members of the Wisconsin legislature spoke about school finance concerns to an audience of approximately 75 at a forum held on May 7 at Middleton High School.

When Vermont Lutheran Church established its Legacy Fund in January 2019, the goal was ambitious but deeply rooted in the church’s long-standing commitment to creation care: raise enough money to purchase the 115-acre farm adjacent to its property. Just three years later, in January 2022, that goal became reality.

When the Wisconsin Heights School Board filed into a room adjacent to the High School Library on April 22 at 7 p.m., they were there to ostensibly judge the employment fate of an employee. That employee’s actions had drawn attention in various corners of the community, enough so to draw an admittedly small crowd that regardless stayed for the entire five plus hours of the hearing. 

TOWN OF MIDDLETON – Residents last week passed on an opportunity to buy any part of an inactive cemetery along Airport Road. 

During a council reorganizational meeting in which he read two proclamations, outgoing Middleton Common Council Alder Jeffrey Jackson received a salute from his successor, District 5 Alder Charles Myers.
