**UPDATE** Missing Dane County Couple Found

TOWN OF VERMONT–On Thanksgiving Day, the Dane County Sheriff’s Office took the report of a missing elderly couple.

Donald E. Soper and his wife Colleen A. Soper left a family gathering in the Town of Black Earth at approximately 3 p.m. in a black 2008 Dodge Caliber. Family members became concerned when the couple did not arrive at their destination.

Multiple area Fire Departments and law enforcement agencies conducted searches of several areas in the western part of Dane County as well as adjacent areas throughout the evening hours of Thanksgiving Day without locating the missing couple. The search continue throughout the day on Nov. 29 with no sign of the Sopers or their vehicle.

At approximately 10:20 a.m. on Nov. 30 their vehicle was located on a remote trail in the Town of Vermont.  The vehicle appeared to be stuck and both Donald and Colleen were with the vehicle. Tragically, Donald was determined to be deceased at the scene and Colleen was transported to Meriter Hospital in critical condition.
