MHS gymnasts win two dual meets

Middleton’s girls gymnastics team notched a pair of impressive wins last week.
The Cardinals defeated Verona/Madison Edgewood, 135.225-134.50 on Jan. 13. Middleton also toppled Madison West, 136.60-117.650 on Jan. 15.
“This week’s meets went well,” Middleton coach Desiree Peterson said. “We have been improving our team score each meet which is fantastic.”
In Middleton’s win over Verona, Aspen Goth won the all-around competition with a 36.925 individual score and Abby Arnold was third with a 33.225.
Goth was first on the vault (9.20), while Arnold was fourth (8.650), Reagan Holzheimer was sixth (8.350) and Izzy Bradford was seventh (8.250). Goth was also first on the uneven bars with a 9.150, while Lauren Devine was fifth (8.075), Arnold was seventh (7.650) and Holzheimer was ninth (7.350).
Goth also won the balance beam with a 9.175, while Eva Szczepanski was fifth (8.625), Finley Napralla was seventh (8.30) and Arnold was eighth (8.025). And Goth capped her big day with a first place finish on the floor exercise (9.40), while Arnold was second (8.90), Devine was fifth (8.225) and Leslie Koepcke was sixth (7.90).
“I have a great group of girls this season with a lot of talent,” Peterson said. “Returning gymnasts have continued to improve their routines and new freshmen have brought in a lot of talent. The meet against Verona/Madison Edgewood we had multiple personal bests.”
In Middleton’s win over Madison West, Goth won the all-around competition with a 36.550.
Goth was first on the vault (9.20), while Arnold was second (8.450), Napralla was third (8.150) and Bradford was fourth (8.10). Goth was first on the uneven bars (9.075), while Aubrey Halverson was second (8.425), Arnold was third (8.075) and Devine was fourth (8.075).
Szczepanski was first on the balance beam (9.075), while Goth was second (8.90), Bollig was third (8.50) and Halverson was fourth (8.250). And on the floor exercise, Goth was first (9.375), while Arnold was second (8.50), Devine was third (8.325) and Koepcke was fourth (8.125).
“It’s always great to see all these gymnasts improve,” Peterson said. “We still have yet to have our best meet so I am excited for what the rest of this season has in store for us.”
