MIDDLETON–Judith Ann (Kolb) Faren, 77, of Middleton, passed away on Aug. 20, 2022. She was born at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison on May 16, 1945 to Quintin "Jake" and Dorothy Helen (Knoche) Kolb, who were married on June 3, 1944.
After graduating from Madison West High School in 1963, Judy married the love of her life, Robert "Bob" Faren, on June 25, 1966 at Saint Bernard Catholic Church in Middleton. At the time of their marriage, she worked at Reliance Insurance Co. in Madison, and he worked at Johnson-Hill Press Co. in Fort Atkinson, where they lived soon after their return from a honeymoon to northern Wisconsin.
Later, they started their business, Faren Electric. They were blessed with a son Joseph and a daughter Rebecca and were longtime members of Saint Bernard Catholic Church in Middleton.
Her cherished times were spent with her family and grandchildren, making many treasured and joyous memories. She enjoyed taking care of others, bringing happiness and connections. Judy’s sense of humor and positivity provided cheer and love always. She deeply valued family and friends. An avid reader, she zipped through romance novels.
Judy loved the ocean, collecting shells, collecting Santa knickknacks and “Christmas Village'' items. She worked at Happy Pastimes collectables and gift shop on Parmenter Street in Middleton, which assisted her collections!
She is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years Bob Faren; son Joe (Sara) Faren; daughter Becky (Ronald) Schroeder; her grandchildren, Quintin, Maleah, and Mason Faren; and Nick and Kaia Schroeder; her two brothers, Jim Kolb and Tim (Julie) Kolb, two sisters, Linda (Tim) Hook, Jane (Paul) Anderson; a brother-in-law Fred Behrend; and her sister-in-law Cynthia Kolb.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Quintin (Jan. 24, 1983) and Dorothy (April 30, 2016); and two younger siblings, her sister, Mary H. Behrend (Sept. 10, 2011), and her brother, Robert "Robbie" Kolb (Feb. 1, 2015); as well as her father-in-law and mother-in-law Obert and Alice (Tormey) Faren.
A memorial service for Judy was held at 11 a.m. on Aug. 30, 2022 at the Cress Funeral Home, 6021 University Avenue in Madison, which assisted the family during their time of grief.
