MIDDLETON/ORO VALLEY, AZ–Tim Studer, long-time resident of Middleton, died unexpectedly of a heart attack on Jan. 14 in Oro Valley, AZ.  Tim moved to Oro Valley after retiring from a 30-year career with the City of Middleton as Finance Director.

Tim was born November 19, 1950 in Minneapolis, MN.  He was the fifth of six children of Edward and Katherine Studer. Tim will be remembered for his friendliness and hearty laughter, generosity, being a welcoming and fun host in his Arizona home, his adoration for his grandchildren and his amazing appetite, especially for cookies!  He was an avid golfer, gardened and grew roses wherever he lived, played the guitar, and was rarely without a dog.  Tim regularly walked with those companions on the trails and sidewalks of Middleton, and later in Oro Valley. Sadly, his beloved golden retriever Maxine preceded him in death on Dec. 1, 2020.  He volunteered as a docent at the Tohono Chul Botanical Gardens in Tucson and as a tax preparer for the United Way of Tucson.

Above all else, Tim’s love for his family and friends will endure. He is survived by sisters Mary Ellen Thorne (San Diego, CA) and Patricia Ford (Vail, AZ); daughters Megan Studer (Flagstaff, AZ) and Laura King (Sparks, NV); grandchildren Jaiden and Layla King, Owen and Bennett Worthington, Sage and Marvel Forest. “We will always miss you and love you, PopPop.” Also surviving are special friends Lee and Annie Fishl, Kathi Sell, ex-spouse Betta Owens, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held later in Middleton, with the date to be determined (likely as early as this summer).
